Hearts of Oak have started the search for a substantive Managing Director after accepting Vincent Odotei Sowah's decision to resign from the post to concentrate on his political career.

The Board of Directors of the club accepted the newly elected MP's decision to quit and set out the plans to search for a new MD following their meeting on Wednesday night.

They will advertise the position by calling for applications for astute managers to steer the affairs of the club.

Odotei, who replaced Gerald Ankrah who resigned in January last year after 16 months at post, is also a deputy minister under the ruling NPP government.

Odotei that disclosed that he is resigning from his post as Managing Director of Hearts of Oak in order to concentrate on other commitments. The Politician has had his duties doubled after being nominated as deputy minister-designate for communications.

He is also currently the Member of Parliament (MP) for the La Dadekotopong constituency, having won the Parliamentary elections in 2016. An overload of commitments mean Odotei-Sowah has had to relinquish his post as MD for the club. In the aftermath of Hearts of Oak’s victory over rivals Kotoko, Odotei revealed that he was quitting his post, but promised to continue serving the club as a management member. “I’ve decided to let go my position as the head, but I’m not leaving the club. I’m just changing my role because operationally I will not be able to combine it with other things,” he said. “But I will still hold my position in the management board, and continue to work behind the scene.”

The outgoing MD also took time to praise the home supporters for their role in the club’s narrow 1-0 victory over Kotoko last month. “I love this club and its fans so much, I’m sure they are elated today because last Wednesday we disappointed them but I thank them for coming to cheer the players on in this game.”
