Hearts of Oak midfielder Ibrahim Salifu is confident his side can break the league title drought in the ongoing campaign.

The Phobians have not won the Ghana Premier League title since 2009.

Salifu who joined Hearts of Oak in the second transfer window from Techiman Eleven Wonder played one of his best games for the club on Sunday against King Faisal in a 2-0 win.

Hearts of Oak needed to win the game to keep their league title ambitions alive after picking one point in their last two games against Karela United and Dreams FC.

Salifu popularly known as “Di Maria” was influential in the two goals scored by the club in the second half to secure the win.

He delivered a chip into the box which found Daniel Barnie Afriyie who laid a pass to Kwadwo Obeng Junior for the first goal and also assisted in the second goal scored by Daniel Barnie Afriyie.

Speaking to the media after the game, Salifu said picking a win away can aid their bid for the league title.

“Our target is to win the league and looking at the difference between the teams on top of us we can catch up. We just have to win some matches away from home.”

On their win against King Faisal, he indicated that the players listened to the instructions of the coach.

“It was determination and confidence from the coach that is why we won the game today. There is a lot of discipline in the team and we also listen to instructions from the Coach. With the remaining matches ahead of us we can win if we continue to listen to our coach”.

Salifu with his impressive performance in the game for the Phobians was adjudged Man of the Match after the win.

It was his sixth Man of the Match award in the ongoing Ghana Premier League. The highest for an individual after matchday 23.
