Former Public Relations Officer of Hearts of Oak National Chapter Committee (NCC), Paa Kofi Sunsum has made a stunning allegation against Alhaji Akambi, claiming that the latter collected a bribe of GH¢200 to engineer a move for Emmanuel Sarkodie to the club.
Hearts of Oak were heavily linked with a transfer for Nkoranza Warriors midfielder Emmanuel Sarkodie.
The Phobians were however pipped to the midfielder's signing by bitterest adversaries Asante Kotoko.
During an interview on Accra-based Happy FM, the outspoken Sunsum disclosed that Hearts of Oak did put up a fight to sign the enterprising enforcer but their efforts went down the drain after Alhaji Akambi collected a bribe of GH¢200 from Nkoranza Warriors general manager who was leading the transfer negotiations between the two clubs.
According to Sunsum, Akambi accompanied the Warriors general manager (name withheld) to the office of Hearts of Oak CEO, Mr. Frederick Moore, as the two clubs commenced discussion about the transfer fee.
Mr. Moore gave the Warriors chief a transportation fare of GH¢500, which Akambi later marched the man to the back of the club's secretariat and demanded to be given GH¢200 from the transportation money in order to facilitate the transfer.
Meanwhile, Hearts of Oak snapped up Nigerien midfielder Abdourahamane Mamane Lawali after being beaten to Sarkodie's signature.
Hearts of Oak have also acquired Nigerian striker Danjuma Ademola Kuti and Abednego Tetteh in the ongoing transfer window.
