Hearts of Oak head coach Samuel Boadu expressed his delight after beating 10-man Bechem United in the MTN FA Cup final on Sunday.

The Phobians won their 12th FA Cup at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, ensuring that they did not end the season without a major trophy.

Hearts won 2-1 thanks to Daniel Afriyie Barnieh's 60th-minute goal, which came after Caleb Amankwah had cancelled out Emmanuel Avornyo's opener for Bechem United.

Hearts have now won the trophy for the second time in a row since Boadu took over as coach. He won it last season.

"I say a big thanks to Hearts of Oak family, board and everyone. It wasn't an easy task, being in the top wasn't it, the most important was to win the trophy and go to Africa but some didn't understand. Working, definitely, they will be criticisms but kept us going," coach Boadu said after the game.

"Bechem have a strong team, very young side, they are compact in midfield and on the flanks so we had to deploy a strategy to contain them. We decided to bring Obeng in the second half to hold them."

"No one is leaving as at now but definitely we will make some inclusions before the end of the season. We have qualified for Africa again and is the second consecutive season we are doing that so we've had a successful season." He added

Boadu is the first coach to retain the title since the late Sir Cecil Jones Attuquayefi did so in 1999 and 2000.
