Hearts of Oak defender Mohammed Alhassan named interim captain

Hearts of Oak centre-back Mohammed Alhassan has been as the interim captain of the club following the temporal demotion of substantive skipper Fatawu Mohammed.

The towering centre-back assumes the leadership role at the club after the latest turn of event.

Mohammed is well respected within the group and will be required to lead the side in the next two weeks.

Substantive captain Fatawu Mohammed has been banished from training with the senior team for the next two weeks after violating the terms of his contract, the club said on Tuesday.

"We wish to inform fans of the club and the general public that captain – Fatawu Mohammed has been suspended from the senior team for 2 weeks for violating the terms of his contract,"

"During the period of the suspension, he will be required to train with the junior team. In his absence, Mohammed Alhassan will act as captain.

"The player has been engaged and the implications of his actions and the reasons behind the punishment has been explained to him."
