Hearts of Oak star Winful Cobbinah pleads with government over Anas' exposé

Hearts of Oak midfielder Winful Cobbinah says government decision to dissolve the Ghana Football Association in the wake of the Anas' exposé will be detrimental to the future of local footballers in the country.

The game has been put on ice after an Accra High Court granted the Attorney General's request for an interlocutory injunction on the FA.

The court order on Tuesday follows an earlier announcement last week by the government that it wants to dissolve the football association over bribery scandal.

A documentary on the football association by investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas was screened to thousands of Ghanaians last week.

The documentary details how football officials take bribe to influence matches.

The move has put football players on the edge amid fears their careers could cripple due to the latest standoff.

And Winful Cobbinah, who plays for one of Ghana's biggest clubs, Hearts of Oak, is urging the government to exercise restrain.

"Our careers are on the line and so will plead with government to ensure players are not affected unduly,"he told Asempa FM

"Football is our profession and so  if we keep staying at home, it will affect us.

"Like I said, whatever should be done to ensure we return to the pitch sooner rather than later should be done."

The High Court granted the government’s request after it’s attorney general Gloria Akuffo filed a motion in court to suspend the Association (GFA) and its officials.
