Hearts reacts to Abubakar European deal frustration report

Published on: 26 June 2012

Hearts of Oak have rubbished reports they are frustrating Moro Abubakar by concealing an impending European deal.

Czech Republic top flight club Slovacko have invited the tough-tackling midfielder for a seven-day trial which should have started on 20 June.

But Hearts have refused to inform Abubakar of the interest FC Slovacko even though the player is aware of the interest from the Czech club.

The Accra-based club have however reacted angrily over this publication on GHANAsoccernet.com on Friday June 22 by sending a rejoinder signed by the club’s General Manager Ashford Tetteh Oku.

“Your story â€œHearts frustrate Abubakar by concealing Europe deal” is not only misleading but highly illogical,” the rejoinder read.

“First of all, we wish to state categorically clear that the Club has no intention of impeding the movement of any player.

“Secondly, from the business side of things, it would be more prudent and logical to transfer a player whose contract is about to expire rather than letting him go as a free agent. Â In that case there would be no need to frustrate him.

“Indeed, apart from initiating moves to renew his contract, the Club has taken cognizance of the above and had, within its own internal processes, done everything necessary to facilitate his visa acquisition. Â Moro or perhaps, the Agent who might have misinformed you are aware.

“Indeed, if you are a bit conversant with the process of visa acquisition you would know that Clubs have to obtain introductory letters from the Ghana Football Association to the relevant diplomatic Missions.

“With all due respect, we must say that sometimes it is necessary to credit those who run football in this country with some amount of intelligence, and one sure way of doing that is to move away from speculations and double-check facts with the appropriate sources. Â We are always available for that.”
