Hearts of Oak will play Nigerian club Enugu Rangers to commemorate their centenary celebrations, GHANAsoccernet.com understands.

The decision to play the Nigerian side was bourne out of the club's inability to match the huge financial demands of some preferred European clubs.

"We discussed the prospects of playing an European club but the charge was way to high for us and we realized our projected revenue from the game will not be enough to offset the expenses," Hearts Board Chairman, Commodore Mensah told Accra-based Asempa FM.

The match will be played on Sunday November 13, two days after Hearts at the Accra Sports Stadium at 3pm.

Meanwhile, the club's supporter wing , the Chapters will engage the media in a friendly on Saturday at the ATTC Park.

A blood donation exercise will take place after the game, all as part of activities marking the centenary.

The centenary planning committe lack of ideas. We should play Kotoko rather than Enugu Rangers. We could generate more money from a game with Kotoko. Commodore wise up!!

Oh Mighty Hearts of Oak! How sad! So the real classmates include Enugu Rangers of Nigeria? When a management member said Kotoko was not in the class of Hearts to play a centenary match, which class was he referring to? What pedigree has Rangers got that Kotoko does not have? Is Rangers better than even Oly playing in the second tier league? When are we going to appreciate our own, Ghana?

I don't agree this is a good choice. How many player do we know in the Enugu Rangers team? Why not play Kotoko to generate some money at least for additional recruitment?.Probably,Enugu Rangers is going to pay some money to Hearts of Oak which could be bigger than the gate proceeds that will realised when they play Kotoko hence this arrangement.
