Heerenveen's Amoah suffers injury, may miss Europa tie

Ghana striker Mathew Amoah must pass a late fitness test for Heerenveen's Europa League third round qualifier against Rapid Bucure?ti on Thursday.

Amoah picked up a hamstring injury in Saturday's pre-season friendly against FC Koln which they lost 2-0.

But Heerenveen coach Marco Van Basten could rely on Morocco international Oussama Assaidi who was recently linked with Turkish side Galatasaray.

Amoah, 31, joined the Eredivisie side last month after a frustrating spell at Turkish side Mersin.

He has scored one goal on pre-season with Van Basten's side.

The first leg will be played at the Abe Lenstra Stadion and the return leg in the Romanian capital on August 9.

Heerenven finished fifth in last season's Dutch Eredivisie.
