Higuain expected in London on Friday to complete Chelsea switch

With a move to Chelsea seemingly edging ever closer, Gonzalo Higuain is expected in London as early as Friday.

The Blues have been keen to bring a new No.9 to Stamford Bridge, particularly with Alvaro Morata’s time in England not being as successful as planned and the Argentine has thrived under Maurizio Sarri in the past.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus and Chelsea have agreed on a six-month loan deal for the forward, while there are also reports that AC Milan are closing in on Genoa’s Krzysztof Piatek as his replacement at the Stadio San Siro, leaving El Pipita free to travel to the United Kingdom on Friday.

Juventus have tried to extend the duration of his stay in London but nonetheless settled on a six-month initial stay.

Higuain was left out of Gennaro Gattuso’s starting XI in the Supercoppa Italiana defeat against Juventus on Wednesday and was fiery with journalists upon returning to Italy, responding to a question about his future by asking if the journalist was “looking for trouble”.

Since arriving at the San Siro, Higuain has disappointed despite a promising start, scoring just eight times in 22 appearances.
