Former Hearts of Oak defender Philip Boampong has become a golden egg as many local and foreign clubs scramble for his signature following the re-opening of the local transfer window.

Boampong, 25, terminated his contract with the 2000 CAF Champions League winners after he decided not to play for the club again.

Sources close to the player have revealed to GHANAsoccernet.com that many local clubs especially in the are chasing the signature of the experienced defender while other foreign clubs have also shown interest in him.

Clubs in the US as well as Sweden have also shown interest in securing the signature of the former U20 World Champion with clubs in the Ashanti Region dominating the list on the local scene.

Boampong nearly joined Ghana Premier League side Sekondi Hasaacas before the start of the season but refused to play for the club following Hearts of Oak's readiness to transfer him to the Doo Boys.

Should Boampong sign for any local club, it will be the fourth club the defender will be playing for in the Ghana Premier League.
