How will Juventus cope without Pogba?

Published on: 12 September 2016

Manchester United broke the world transfer record, as they re-signed Paul Pogba, from Juventus, for a staggering £89 million, and many are wondering the effect that this will have on his former Italian side. Juventus, under manager Antonio Conte, have won three consecutive Serie A titles over the past few years, and have been at the top of the table for many years prior. Pogba is a huge part of the Juventus midfield, and as an incredible playmaker who is competent at both attack and defensive play, there will be a big hole missing in the squad. Pro poker players have been analysing just how competitive the Premier League will be this season with the addition of huge signings such as Paul Pogba to Manchester United. With this, many teams have been tipped to win the Premier League this season, with the sporting stars poll and betting odds suggesting that this season will be a battle between the two Mancunian clubs – Manchester United and Manchester City. With Pogba expected to make a huge difference at Manchester United this season, we discuss just how Juventus will cope without him.

New Signings

With the amount of money that the club have gained from the sale of Paul Pogba, the club have remained very active in the transfer window. So far, they’ve brought in Miralem Pjanic, Medhi Benatia, Marko Pjaca, Dani Alves, last season’s Golden Boot winner Gonzalo Higuain and eChelsea forward Juan Cuadrado is also back after failing to secure a place in the starting 11. The club have been paying close attention to the value of players, and have tried to fill the gap that Paul Pogba has left – something they have done quite successfully.

More Than One Player

The success behind Juventus’ side in the Serie A is not just down to one player. The whole team have been dominating the league for many seasons, and Fabio Capello told La Stampa that “If before they were fighting to be among the top four in Europe, now they are right in there. After that, winning the tournament also requires good luck.” The side have been moulding their players into a huge attacking force, making it almost pointless that any other teams are in the Serie A, as Juventus are likely to continue to dominate.

Acceptance

The fact that the club have accepted that they have a hole in their squad without Paul Pogba, shows the teams’ willingness to move forward. The transfer business that the football club have already taken part in shows just how ready and willing to continue their reign as champions the team are. The team should have a lot of confidence after their successes in previous seasons, and after some players such as Giorgio Chiellini came close to winning the Euros this summer with Italy, there’s no reason why they shouldn’t be back on top form. Chiellini however, is humble, stating that the team are a work in progress, and that finer details will need to be improved over the course of the season. Nevertheless, the squad should bounce back quite quickly and be ready to maintain their title and take on the Champions League too, without Paul Pogba.
