Chelsea hero Pat Nevin believes Callum is not yet good enough to walk into Bayern Munich’s first team and should be patient for his chance at Chelsea.

Hudson-Odoi is understood to want to leave Chelsea this month over a perceived lack of chances in the first team.

This season, Hudson-Odoi has made just 12 appearances for Chelsea and seen his friend Jadon Sancho flourish at Borussia Dortmund.

Bayern have made a £35million bid for Hudson-Odoi but Chelsea are reluctant to sanction the move.

However, Hudson-Odoi has 18 months left on his current contract and could leave for free in 2020.

"You don't get a special brief because you are born in a certain country and, clearly, he's not good enough to walk into Bayern's first team just now because he can't get into Chelsea's," Nevin told the BBC.

"But if you think you're good enough to get a game at Chelsea next year, it wouldn't be a bad thing to stay and have a go at that.

“Right now, he might be dithering [about a decision]. He'll know the answer by next season and that won't be too late."

But despite his reservations, Nevin does acknowledge that Hudson-Odoi is a special talent.

"The Bayern offer is extraordinary," he said.

"You don't spend that money on a kid if you think there's a chance of failure."
