Hull's move to appoint Pedro Martins as their new manager is set to collapse

Hull’s move to appoint Pedro Martins as manager is set to collapse amid late reservations from the Portuguese boss.

Andy Dawson, who led Hull during their 2-1 win over Wigan on Wednesday, is to remain in charge for now.

Sportsmail revealed earlier this week that former Olympiacos coach Martins had verbally agreed to replace Shota Arveladze, who was sacked last week.

Indeed, Martins was in the stands for Hull’s victory over Wigan on Wednesday night ahead of signing a three year deal.

But the expected appointment of Martins is now off with little prospect of reviving the move.

It is understood owner Acun Ilicali now wants to give caretaker Dawson an opportunity to impress ahead of possibly appointing the club stalwart on a permanent basis.

Carlos Corberan, Carlos Carvahal and Scott Parker were among the alternative contenders for the role before Martins emerged as Hull’s lead candidate.
