Auxerre midfielder Elisha Owusu has expressed his love for the city and its passionate supporters, citing the fans' unwavering support as a key reason for his happiness at the club.
The French-born Ghanaian joined Auxerre from Belgian side KAA Gent, marking his return to France, where he has spent most of his career. Since arriving, Owusu has felt the warmth of the club’s community and supporters.
"The fans are really behind us. You can feel the love, and they are very passionate as well," Owusu told Flashscore following Auxerre’s recent 3-0 loss to Monaco. "Even after we lost 3-0 to Monaco, they were still supporting us and singing. We don't take it for granted and want to give them everything. I am very happy to play here."
Despite the team's recent struggles, sitting 15th in Ligue 1 with three consecutive defeats following an opening-day win, Auxerre are determined to retain their top-flight status.
The club earned promotion after winning the Ligue 2 title last season, and Owusu remains hopeful of turning the season around with the fans' continuous backing.
