President John Dramani Mahama has congratulated the Black Stars on their impressive 5-0 win over Chad in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

In a post, Mahama expressed his delight, saying, "I had a good appetite for dinner after the Black Stars' 5-0 victory. Congrats guys!"

Mahama's message also came with a warning, urging the team not to become complacent after the victory.

"Let this victory not make us complacent. This should be the beginning of bringing back the LOVE," he said.

The Black Stars' win propelled Ghana to the top of Group I, setting the stage for a crucial showdown with Madagascar on Monday. The team's dominant performance saw goals from Antoine Semenyo, Inaki Williams, Jordan Ayew, Mohammed Salisu, and Ernest Nuamah.

Coach Otto Addo's tactics paid off, with Ghana's high-pressing strategy leaving Chad reeling from the start. The win marked Ghana's first five-goal haul since a 2020 friendly against Qatar and Chad's worst competitive defeat since 2015.

As Ghana prepares to face Madagascar on Monday, Mahama's message of congratulations and caution will likely resonate with the team.

With this win, Ghana has taken a significant step towards qualification for the 2026 World Cup.
