Hearts assistant coach Ben Adjei insists there was no rift between himself and ex-goalkeeper Sammy Adjei.

The experienced goalie has been told to look elsewhere and will no longer be part of coach David Duncan plans for the upcoming season.

Coach Adjei has been accused of masterminding the exit of the former Ashdod shot-stopper.

Reports in the Ghanaian media had suggested he played a key role in the decision of his boss to dispense with his services.

But the deputy coach at the capital-based side insists he played no role in the ultimate decision of the club.

“I am very close to Sammy and so I don’t know where these stories are coming from,” Adjei said

“It’s never true that I was responsible for the decision to ask him to leave.

“It was the decision of the club and so please no one should accuse me wrongly. I did no wrong.”

The decision to farm out the goalie has divided opinions among Hearts fans.
