Ghana midfielder Elisha Owusu has opened up about his admiration for football stars Kevin-Prince Boateng and Andre Ayew, highlighting the honor he feels in sharing the national team shirt with his childhood heroes.

Owusu, 26, made his debut for the Black Stars in March 2022 during Ghana's crucial World Cup qualification playoff against Nigeria. Since then, the Auxerre midfielder has earned 10 caps for the national team, fulfilling a dream he had while watching Boateng and Ayew dominate the sport.

"Growing up, I used to watch Kevin-Prince Boateng a lot. I loved him as a kid," Owusu shared in an exclusive interview with Flashscore. "Andre Ayew, also because when you're from France, he is the ‘big big’ man. Having the chance to play with him in the national team was a big honor for me."

Currently focused on club duties, Owusu aims to help Auxerre retain their top-flight status in Ligue 1.

Despite an opening-day win, Auxerre has since lost three consecutive games, leaving them 15th on the league table.

The team recently bounced back to Ligue 1 after winning the Ligue 2 trophy, but Owusu knows much work remains to secure their place in the top division as the season unfolds.
