Young Ghanaian defender David Oduro is determined to make the most of his time at Barcelona.

Oduro became the first player to be signed directly from Ghana to the Spanish club, securing a three-year deal from Accra Lions.

Before his move to Spain, the 18-year-old left-back had also trialled with Chelsea and Bayer Leverkusen in hopes of securing a transfer.

In an interview with Sporty TV, Oduro outlined his goals: "This is the time for me to work hard, this is not the time to sleep. I have to work extra hard to be able to play in the first team."

He added, "The aim is to play in the first team, the Champions League and then also for the Ghana national team."

Oduro expressed his enthusiasm for Barcelona’s style of play, which influenced his decision to join the club.

"I love their style of play. I went there [to see it], I love the project and I can't wait to get there and get started."

Oduro will start his journey with Barcelona B.
