Ibrahim Tanko credits extra training time for Medeama’s win over Bechem United

Medeama head coach, Ibrahim Tanko, has attributed his team’s impressive performance against Bechem United to the extended training time during the league’s suspension.

The Tarkwa-based club secured a commanding 3-1 victory at the TNA Stadium in their first match since the Ghana Premier League resumed following a temporary halt.

The competition was suspended for several weeks after the tragic death of Asante Kotoko fan, Francis Yaw “Pooley” Frimpong, who was fatally stabbed during violent clashes at Kotoko’s away game against Nsoatreman.

Tanko, who was recently appointed as Medeama’s head coach, believes that the extra time in training helped his team execute their game plan effectively against Bechem.

“We had a very good game against a very good, organized team, and I think in the first half, we should have scored two or three more goals, but I think in the end, it’s a deserved win for us.

"We had time to train for a week, so I think it’s part of the reason why we had a very good game today.”

Medeama will face Nations FC and Samartex on March 16 and 18, respectively, as they continue their league campaign with back-to-back away fixtures.
