I'm a failure because I didn't make the top four - Hearts of Oak coach Samuel Boadu

Hearts of Oak coach Samuel Boadu is disappointed in himself for failing to finish in the top four of the Ghana Premier League this season.

Despite winning the MTN FA Cup to appease fans, Boadu described himself as a failure.

The Phobians won the league and FA Cup last season, but they struggled in the league this season, finishing sixth.

Hearts trailed sworn rivals Asante Kotoko, the league champions, by 19 points.

Speaking after Sunday's FA Cup final victory against Bechem United, Boadu said “As a coach, I’m a failure because I’m not part of the top four, so I have really disappointed the supporters and this is how football is so they should keep supporting the team and I know that with time things will change.”

As a result of winning the trophy, Hearts will compete in next season's CAF Confederation Cup.
