Ghana coach Otto Addo has revealed that he is eager to watch Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak in action before making a prediction on the next Ghana Premier League (GPL) champion.
Addo, who has already identified Medeama SC and FC Samartex as his early two teams to contend for the title, wants to assess the strength of Kotoko and Hearts of Oak before making a definitive statement.
Speaking after watching Medeama's 1-0 win over Legon Cities, Addo said: "From what I saw from Medeama and also Samartex, they are doing well. So maybe it's among these two, but I haven't seen all the matches, so I'm eager also to watch Kotoko and Hearts of Oak, and all the good teams, and then we'll see."
Addo, who is also on the lookout for home-based talent, expressed his intention to attend more GPL games this season, saying: "But at the moment I can't make any statement about who will win the league."
The Black Stars coach had previously observed Samartex, the reigning champions, defeat Nsoatreman in the 2024 Ghana Super Cup, and Medeama lose on penalties to Basake Holy Stars in the Apinto Cup.
Meanwhile, the former Ghana champion has a daunting task ahead as he looks to bounce back from a poor start to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier.
Ghana after just fetching a single point in their first two genes will be aiming to redeem themselves against Sudan in a crucial doubleheader.
