Monaco defender Mohammed Salisu has expressed his delight at returning to his best form following a difficult spell with injuries last season.

The Ghana center-back endured a tough period after his move from Southampton at the end of the 2022/23 season, where injury setbacks limited him to just 12 appearances.

Salisu has recently showcased his recovery with strong performances in Ligue 1. His impressive showing in Monaco's recent 3-0 victory over Auxerre marked his third appearance in four league matches this season, indicating his growing influence in the team.

After featuring for Ghana in back-to-back matches against Angola and Niger during the international break, Salisu quickly returned to club duties. Despite the quick turnaround, he put in a commanding 90-minute performance against Auxerre just two days after rejoining Monaco.

In an exclusive interview with Flashscore, Salisu shared his excitement about his physical condition, saying, "I would say I'm in my best shape for a long time now, and I try to keep working day by day and keep improving."

The former Real Valladolid player aims to maintain his fitness and form as he prepares for his UEFA Champions League debut against Barcelona on Thursday, embracing the challenges of the new-look competition.
