Ghana's No. 1

I'm ready to accept $5,000 for the Black Stars job, says Abdul Razak

Former Ghana international Abdul Razak is begging the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to consider him for the vacant Black Stars coaching job.

The top job of the country's football team became vacant following the dismissal of head coach Charles Akonnor.

Akonnor's sacking was expected because Ghanaians demanded it after the Black Stars lost 1-0 to South Africa in Johannesburg in World Cup qualifiers early this month.

Akonnor is gone and the GFA are searching for a replacement, with a committee chaired by vice-president Mark Addo tasked to find a new coach before the week ends.

While the search is ongoing, former Kotoko coach Razak has availed himself, claiming he will accept $5,000 - $20,000 less than Akonnor's monthly salary.

“Try me and see for the black stars coaching job. I'm ready to accept $5,000 for the Black Stars job,” Abdul Razak told Kumasi-based Ashh FM.

“My favourite formation are 433 and 442 and it's an attacking football system.”

The new coach's first games will be against Zimbabwe as Black Stars play them home and away in early October.
