The Chairman of Asante Kotoko’s Interim Management Committee (IMC), Nana Akwasi Apinkra Awuah, has called on supporters of the club to volunteer information that could assist ongoing investigations into the death of Francis Frimpong, popularly known as Nana Pooley.
Pooley tragically lost his life after being stabbed during Kotoko’s Ghana Premier League matchday 19 encounter against Nsoatreman FC in Nsoatre.
His passing has left the club and its supporters in mourning, prompting a candlelight vigil held at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday, February 9.
Addressing fans during the vigil, Nana Awuah urged calm and assured them that the Ghana Police Service and national security officials were working diligently to uncover the truth behind the incident.
"If you know anyone who has an information and can help in the matter, bring it to the Kotoko Secretariat so we add to the other findings we have," he said.
So far, six individuals have been arrested in connection with the incident.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has also engaged all Premier League clubs and their supporters to strengthen security at league matches following the tragedy.
