Michael Essien's come back continued on Friday as he captained a very young Chelsea side in Amsterdam for a game against Ajax.

Chelsea lost 3 - 1 but for Michael it was a good test of his fitness and this time he played for 73 minutes before being substituted

Michael is pleased with his fitness and overall game and has already expressed his desire for the season to start so he can start doing what he does best - playing football

'I am getting back to the level I was before the injury and it feels good. Its been a long road with hardwork and some painful memories but that is behind me now'

'I have been working through the summer to get to this stage and I am looking forward to the start of the season' he concluded

Chelsea Coach Carlo Ancelotti is also pleased with the progress of Michael and onchelseafc.com had this to say

'Essien is very well and I think he is fit to play. The injury is behind him and this is a good thing for us'.

Chelsea travel to Germany for two more pre season friendly games next Sunday and the Wednesday afterwards. Then it will be the Community Shield game on Sunday 8th August against Manchester United
