The West Londoners have stepped up their chase to land Atletico Madrid back man, Jose Gimenez.
Chelsea continue their quest to strengthen their eleven ahead of the January transfer window with players still likely to depart.
The club spent a large sum last summer recruiting fresh legs into the squad but with a disappointing spell into the World Cup break, Blues are keen on returning strong.
Gimenez has remained on their transfer list ever since under Thomas Tuchel but no concrete offer was proposed yet until lately.
According to reports, Blues have now opened talks for the Uruguayan who has already made 184 league appearances for Atletico Madrid.
Chelsea won’t have Gimenez at a platter of gold as they would have to pay around €40m for the player considering he is still in contract with Club Atletico de Madrid until 2025.
