Karim Adeyemi has sustained a torn muscles fibre and to this effect the hero of the last meeting between the two sides, is likely to miss the 2nd leg tie at Stamford Bridge.
Adeyemi’s clever run and a fine goal separated the two sides, when they met last week in the 1st leg tie of the Champions league round of 16, on a 1:0 scoreline.
That goal made Karim, 21, the youngest player to score against Chelsea in a champions league game after Victor Osimhen of Lille in October 2019, at the age of 20 years.
Adeyemi was involved in the league clash against Hertha Berlin for Dortmund in their 4:1 win on Sunday, scoring one and laying up for a team mate to score another.
However, Adeyemi was forced off before the interval after suffering an injury in the move that led to his cross for Malen’s goal, and was seen clutching his left thigh before being helped from the field.
Karim is likely to miss out in the 2nd leg tie of the knockout stage of the champions league on March 7, as he is expected to be away for a period of 3 weeks.
The German international’s injury comes at an unfortunate time, with the former Salzburg man having scored on each of his last four BVB appearances, after only netting twice in his first 20 outings for the club.
