In the build-up to Newcastle United’s highly-anticipated home fixture against Arsenal, Eddie Howe has taken the opportunity to address the touchline clash that occurred during their previous encounter. The incident took place during a tightly contested goalless draw at the Emirates Stadium back in January.

When questioned about his thoughts on Mikel Arteta, the head coach of the Magpies praised his counterpart, highlighting Arteta’s exceptional managerial skills. Howe expressed his admiration for the way Arsenal plays and acknowledged the influence of Arteta’s work on the team’s performances, referring to him as an elite manager.

“He’s an outstanding manager,” said Newcastle’s head coach. “I enjoy watching Arsenal play, I admire his work. You can see his work come through in the performances. I think he is elite, yeah.”

“That’s a brilliant coaching job, and you have to admire everything they’re doing.”

Acknowledging the competitive nature of the sport, Howe emphasized that confrontations and moments of tension are natural occurrences during matches.

He made it clear that he harbors no ill feelings towards Arteta and holds no lingering issues regarding their previous clash on the touchline. The Newcastle United coach displayed respect for his counterpart’s coaching abilities, recognizing the excellent job Arteta has done at Arsenal.

“Within a game, you’ll always have moments where you come up against opponents, and there’s a bit of confrontation. That’s natural, and part of the job. No issues from my side.

“Whatever happens, it will be a great spectacle between two really good teams.”

Looking ahead to the upcoming fixture, Howe anticipated an enthralling spectacle between two formidable sides. He commended both teams, considering them to be of high quality, and expressed his confidence that the match would be an exciting affair for the fans and neutrals alike.
