Manchester United Women players Katie Zelem, Ella Toone, Alessia Russo and Mary Earps have been called up to the latest England Women national team for international friendlies against USA and Czech Repbulic.

Man United Women have started the new season in style, winning their opening two Women’s Super League games against Reading Women and West Ham United Women.

Katie Zelem provided two assists and scored from the penalty spot during Man United’s 4-0 trouncing against Reading. Although she went blank against the Hammers last weekend, her impact in the middle of the park inspired the Red Devils to a comfortable 2-0 win.

Ella Toone may have struggled to replicate her last season form, but that didn’t stop her from being included in the Lionesses squad for October. She has started United’s opening two games, but the England international, who scored in the Women’s Euro 2022 against Germany in July, went blank in both matches.

Alessia Russo scored in United’s 4-0 win over Reading and played a role in Marc Skinner’s side’s comfortable 2-0 win over the Hammers, hence justifying her place in the Lionesses squad.

Mary Earps has always been outstanding, as though she didn’t have a break. Her performances have helped United keep two clean sheets in the WSL this season so far, and she will look to maintain her momentum once again at international level with England.

United new signing Le Tissier, who scored two goals against Reading and provided an assist to Lucia Garcia’s opener against West Ham United, was overlooked by Lionesses coach Sarina Wiegman.

Several WSL fans believe the Manchester United Women defender deserved to be in the team, although they understand not every in-form players will be called up.

The four Manchester United Women players Zelem, Toone, Russo and Earps will look to make their statements when the Lionesses come up against USA and Czech Republic in international friendlies.
