In the latest football news, it has been reported that Palmeiras, the Brazilian club, has set an asking price of €25m (£22m) for their highly-rated 19-year-old winger Giovani, with Newcastle United expressing interest in signing the youngster.

According to journalist Jorge Nicola , Palmeiras is open to selling the forward this summer, as there has been growing interest from several European clubs, including Ajax, FC Barcelona, and Bayer Leverkusen. However, it is the Magpies who are leading the race to secure the Brazilian’s services.

Giovani made his debut for Palmeiras last year and has since been touted as one of the club’s most promising prospects, alongside Real Madrid-bound Endrick. The talented winger’s performances have now caught the attention of top European clubs, with a move to the continent seemingly imminent.

The reported asking price of £22m for the Brazilian wonderkid is a deal that would attract many top European sides. Newcastle, who are looking to bolster their attacking options and lower the average age of their squad, are now in a position to secure the promising young winger’s signature.

Despite stiff competition from other top European clubs, the allure of playing in England, coupled with Newcastle’s rising reputation, could make them the ideal next club for Giovani.

It remains to be seen if Newcastle United will be able to acquire the talented youngster, but if they do, it will undoubtedly be a significant boost to their squad.
