Nick Kyrgios beat Marcos Giron in his first-round singles match at the ATP 500 hard-court tournament in Washington, DC.
Kyrgios won (6-3), (6-2). The match lasted 59 minutes. Giron had four aces, no double faults, no breakpoints, and one earned break point. Kyrgios served 12 times, made three double faults and converted three break points out of six.
In the second round the Australian will meet American Tommy Paul who is just getting started in the tournament.
The tournament had a prize fund of $1,953,285. The tournament started on August 1 and will end on August 7. The reigning winner of the tournament is American Mackenzie McDonald.
