UFC president Dana White commented on the organization of the welterweight fight between Khamzat Chimaev and Nate Diaz.
“I care about Nate and I like him. Diaz came to me shortly before the Chimaev fight was arranged and we talked about it being his last fight.
I was thinking about the wars Nate has put up, and the incredibly big fights he’s had with us. I told him, ‘Look, do what you want, man’. But it’s not as easy to agree with him as it seems.
Everybody was asking why we don’t give him a fight. You know, he asked for Francis Ngannou. I could go on forever, but I won’t.
We arranged the fight. It’s the fight he wanted and we made it happen. It’s a good fight that viewers will want to see,” White said.
