Aryna Sabalenka and Caroline Garcia will face each other in the final match of the WTA Finals. The match will start on November 8 at 03:00.
Bookmaker Ratings: Prediction #1 – Handicap (+2) for Garcia – 1.63.
Bookmaker Ratings: Prediction #2 – Total Games Over 22 – 1.75.
The tennis players have played each other four times. As of today, they are tied 2-2 in their head-to-head encounters. The last match took place in 2022 in Cincinnati and ended with Garcia winning in three sets. Apparently, Caroline is having a better season, she played more consistently than Aryna in Fort Worth. She will obviously have just as much chance for the title today as Aryna.
The matches between the tennis players have regularly been tight and evenly contested. Three of their four matches were played in three sets, which we can’t rule out today. After all, there’s a title on the line and it’s unlikely that anyone will leave the court without a fight.
Sabalenka pulled off a major sensation of the tournament. In the semi-finals, Aryna defeated Iga Swiatek (6-2, 2-6, 6-1).
In the third set, Sabalenka defeated Swiatek with a score of 6-1 in games. Apparently, Swiatek wasn’t expecting such a strong play from Sabalenka.
Iga can be understood in a way. Earlier this year, she had beaten Sabalenka four times. Only in one case, there was a fight in the court.
Remarkably, in the group stage, Aryna has beaten all the top-3 tennis players – Iga Swiatek, Ons Jabeur (3-6, 7-6, 7-5) and Jessica Pegula (6-3, 7-5). Previously, only Steffi Graf, Venus and Serena Williams managed to do this.
Sabalenka could take her first title of the season at the final tournament.
In four of Sabalenka’s last five matches on hard, more than 20 games have been played.
Garcia, meanwhile, defeated Maria Sakkari (6-3, 6-2) in the semi-finals.
Sakkari had three wins in the group stage but lost her match against Caroline, essentially without a fight.
Caroline got into the top four thanks to victories over Coco Gauff (6-4, 6-3) and Daria Kasatkina (4-6, 6-1, 7-6).
Garcia will finish the season in the top-five thanks to her final appearance in the final. Interestingly, back in May, she was ranked 79th, but since then, she has taken three titles and won 37 of 48 matches.
Caroline Garcia has won four consecutive finals.
