Bookmaker Ratings: Prediction #1 – Handicap (-2) for Samsonova – 1.74.
Bookmaker Ratings: Prediction #2 – Total Games Over 21 – 1.64.
The finalists have played each other once. One year ago in Palermo, the Chinese player won on clay. Tonight we expect a rematch. Throughout her career, Samsonova has excelled on the faster surfaces where her powerful serve is most effective. Zheng Qinwen didn’t serve too well against Kudermetova. She is unlikely to withstand Luudmilla’s pressure.
There’s no saying that one of the finalists will have a class advantage. There’s a tournament title at stake and decent prize money. We think the rivals will play more than 21 games today.
Zheng made her first career final at the WTA level, making her debut in the top 30 next week.
On Saturday, the Chinese player scored a strong win over Veronica Kudermetova (5-7, 6-3, 7-6).
Qinwen played the second and third sets at an unbelievable level, making very few serve errors.
Earlier this week, Zheng defeated Misaki Doi (6-2, 6-4), Paula Badosa (6-3, 6-2) and Claire Liu (6-4, 7-5).
The match against Badosa was an absolute highlight. Zheng calmly defeated the world #4 and after the game, she said the result was no surprise at all.
Qinwen Zheng has won nine consecutive finals.
Samsonova has reached the final in the third of her last four tournaments. According to the Russian, she is a bit in shock herself.
In the semi-finals, Ludmila defeated Zhang Shuai (7-6, 6-2). In the first set, it came down to a tie-break and that was probably the key moment of the match. The Chinese player did not seem to believe in her comeback and gave up the second set too easily.
Samsonova has not lost a single set so far this week. Although her previous opponents were Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina (6-2, 6-4), Wang Xinyu (7-6, 6-3) and former world #1 Garbine Muguruza (6-4, 6-2).
Ludmilla Samsonova has won nine in a row as a favourite.
In three of Zheng’s previous five matches, more than 9.5 games have been played in the first set. We offer to bet on “1st Set Games – Over 9.5” with odds of 1.92.
