Ghana striker, Inaki Williams, expressed immense pride in his Athletic Club teammates, despite their 4-1 defeat to Manchester United in the second leg of their Europa League semi-final on Thursday night.
Athletic Club took a shock lead at Old Trafford just before halftime when Mikel Jauregizar scored with a powerful long-range strike, giving them a 1-0 advantage.
However, United equalized in the 72nd minute, as Mason Mount expertly controlled the ball and curled a shot into the bottom corner.
Casemiro completed the turnaround for the Red Devils in the 80th minute, and just five minutes later, Rasmus Hojlund added a third.
Mount sealed his brace in stoppage time, securing a comprehensive 4-1 win that all but ended Athletic Club’s chances of a comeback.
United progressed to the Europa League final with a 7-1 aggregate win, where they will face Tottenham Hotspur.
Although sidelined by injury, Williams took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his admiration for the team: “More than proud of my teammates and all the Athleticalez, Inaki Williams, who was left out of the squad due to injury.
“Thank you. We will come back stronger,” he added.

The final will be an all-English clash, with United set to meet Spurs at San Mames, Athletic Bilbao’s home ground, on May 21.
