The head coach of the Black Stars, Chris Hughton has assured Ghanaians that striker Inaki Williams is working hard to score goals for the national team.

Despite his fine form at Athletic Club, the forward struggles to impress when he is invited for a national team assignment.

While Inaki Williams awaits his first goal for the Black Stars, coach Chris Hughton has revealed what works for the striker at Athletic Club.

“What he has at club level is he has rhythm, he plays every game. Generally, he plays on the right side although he is a No. 9. They have the benefit of working with him for every single day and they have done that for a number of years,” Chris Hughton explained.

At his pre-match press conference, Coach Chris Hughton said the team will work hard to ensure chances are created for Inaki Williams to get the services he needs to score.

“It is our responsibility, sometimes it can click straight away, and sometimes it can take time. I think with Inaki there is no question of willingness to want to score or want to work hard. We just have to continue to work hard to find the right formula to give him the service that he needs,” Chris Hughton noted.

Ghana hosts Madagascar on Friday, November 17, in the first game of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The game kicks off at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium at 4 pm.
