2021/22 Ghana Premier League: Week 26 Match Preview - Elmina Sharks vs. Real Tamale United

Published on: 23 April 2022

Elmina Sharks FC remain down but aren't out yet as they will try to get the maximum points when they take on Real Tamale United at the Nduom Sports Complex this Sunday in the Ghana Premier League.

The matchday 26 fixture will give Sharks an opportunity to believe they in their hopes of avoiding relegation at the end of the season.

The 'Botwekumba' continue to languish at the bottom of the premiership standings with only 19 points from 25 matches, nine more points away from the safety places.

With nine more matches until the season comes to a closure, there is a bit of hope for Sharks in the relegation dogfight.

A 1-1 draw against defending champions Hearts of Oak last week at the Accra Sports Stadium saw Sharks go back-to-back games without a defeat for the first time this campaign.

The Elmina based club go into Sunday's match on the back of two straight home wins and could possibly make it three by beating RTU.

Sharks trainer Kobina Amissah will have a full squad available to him for selection to face the Northerners.

RTU claimed a vital 2-1 victory over Asante Kotoko SC in the last round to intensify their fight against relegation as they remain in the drop zone despite the win.

The Pride of the North are sitting at the 16th position on the league standings with 28 points from 25 games with only a point adrift of the safety zone.

RTU have managed only two wins in their last 12 premiership matches having recorded 6 defeats and drawing the other four and this is why they're fighting against the drop.

Ever since picking a point in Kumasi against Kotoko back in December 2021, the Northerners have been piss poor on the road in the league.

RTU are trekking to the Central Region with 8 consecutive away defeats and would be looking at changing the status quo by claiming a victory over Sharks on Sunday.

Top marksman David Abagna Sandan has recovered from his long-term injury and his presence seems to be a major boost for Shaibu Ibrahim Tanko's side.

Abagna got some minutes to play when he came on as substitute last week. He is in line for start against Sharks.
