2021/22 Ghana Premier League: Week 29 Match Report - Real Tamale United 2-2 Bechem United

Published on: 18 May 2022

Real Tamale United had their relegation dogfight suffer a slump on Wednesday when they conceded very late in the game to draw 2-2 with Bechem United at home.

The Pride of the North threw away a 2-1 advantage at the Aliu Mahama Stadium in Tamale. They are now just two points above the drop zone after 29 matches.

RTU gaffer Shaibu Ibrahim Tanko made a couple of changes to the team that held Dreams FC to a 2-2 stalemate a fortnight ago in the last round of fixtures.

Emmanuel Essandoh returned to the goalposts for the first time in place of Yaw Osei to make the starting lineup since November 21, 2021 when he started against Aduana Stars.

Mustapha Fuseini and Victor Oduro also made way for Augustine Ronald Frimpong and Kwame Boakye in the start list respectively for the Northerners.

Hunters trainer Kassim Mingle Ocansey made only two alterations to the team that beat Aduana Stars 2-0 in the FA Cup semi-final last Sunday in Berekum.

Midfielder Abdul Latif Anabila started again for second time since his return from injury whilst Emmanuel Owusu replaced Clinton Duodu in the starting eleven.

Obuoba Yaw Dasi came in to take the place of Paul Kwei Jnr with youngster Nana Banyin Quayson making the match day squad for the second time this season.

Bechem got their noses in front in the match through Owusu in the 21st minute who scored his 6th goal of the campaign in his 10th appearance.

The home side drew level in 32nd minute when playmaker Frimpong converted a penalty kick.

RTU took the lead in the match for the first time thirteen minutes after the break when Issah Kuka scored.

Substitute Hafiz Wontah Konkoni scored in the dying embers of the game with his first goal of the season to deny the WeyUna a vital win as Bechem claimed a point.

The Hunters have closed in on leaders Asante Kotoko SC by cutting the gap to six points with the latter having a game in hand against AshantiGold SC on Thursday.
