Published on: 19 December 2021

Real Tamale United returned to winning ways after two matches on Sunday when they claimed a deserving win over Elmina Sharks FC at the Aliu Mahama Stadium.

The Pride of the North needed two first goals to record a 2-0 victory against Sharks in the matchday nine fixture in Tamale.

Shaibu Ibrahim Tanko made only one change to the RTU team that held Asante Kotoko SC to a 1-1 stalemate at the Babayara Stadium in Kumasi in the midweek.

Hedir Mohammed replaced Samuel Bawa in the starting lineup. Bawa sustained an injury against Kotoko and hasn't been able to recover.

Sharks head coach Mallam Yahaya made three alterations to the squad that lost 1-0 at home to Hearts of Oak in Elmina last Wednesday.

Isaac Donkor took the place of suspended Ibrahim Suraj in the starting lineup. Suraj was sent off in the game against the Phobians.

Dominic Eshun and Ebenezer Adu-Kwaw Boadi paved way for the inclusions of Alhaji Mustapha and Tahir Mensah respectively.

The hosts opened the scoring of the match in the 22nd minute through Augustine Ronald Frimpong who scored a brilliant goal.

David Abagna Sandan took his tally in the season to 8 goals in 9 games as he doubled the advantage for RTU six minutes from the break.

The hosts tried to add more goals in the second half but all attempts failed to be at the back of the net.
