Controversial football administrator Alhaji Grusah has apologised to Asamoah Gyan after disrespecting the legendary striker for sharing his opinion regarding the penalty decision in the Ghana game against South Africa.
Grusah used some harsh words on the striker who has scored 51 goals for Ghana, making him the country's all-time leading scorer, simply because he said the penalty awarded Ghana in the World Cup qualifier was soft.
“I think the incident was a bit casual,” Gyan told Asempa FM on Tuesday. “There weren’t many cameras on the day to give us different angles unlike what we see in other league matches elsewhere.
“From where I sat and how I saw it, the infringement was debatable. I think Daniel Amartey went down too easily.
“This is my thought based on where I sat and how I saw things. However, the referee was closer to the spot and probably had a better view of the situation.
“Remember also that the tempo of the game was also high and that could have influenced the referee’s decision to award the spot-kick to Ghana.
Gyan's commentary on the controversial incident, which is being investigated by FIFA as part of the complaint filed by South Africa alleging match manipulation, has earned him strong criticisms.
But the King Faisal bankroller literally insulted Gyan, saying “The penalty was a penalty. Because he [Asamoah Gyan] wanted to control Ghanaian football and he didn’t have the chance.
"Look at how his buttocks have become bloated. Why should he be brought back to the Black Stars? For him to do what? FIFA is more sensible than Asamoah Gyan.
"If not for the Black Stars, who is Asamoah Gyan? Even ball boy doesn’t qualify to be in this current Black Stars."
However, upon second thought Grusah has realised he went overboard and has asked for forgiveness from the striker.
“I am apologising to Asamoah Gyan for describing his buttocks that way,” Grusah told Pure FM.
