Asante Kotoko Board Chairman Dr Kwame Kyei has resigned from his position, Happy FM has reported.

The President of the Unity Group of Companies is reported to have informed the life patron of the club Otumfuo Osei Tutu II on his resignation at a meeting with the Board on Tuesday at the Manhyia Palace.

Dr Kwame Kyei informed his Royal Majesty about his resignation but was not approved by the life patron of the club.

Kwame Kyei is said to have told Otumfuo that he had invested heavily in the club with no returns and did not have the support of the other Board members in the team.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II told the Board to deliberate on Dr Kwame Kyei’s request on whether to accept or deny his request.

Happy Sports further reports  that the Board members could not take a decision immediately on Dr Kwame Kyei’s decision at the meeting and have asked for more time to deliberate on the matter.

Dr Kwame Kyei recently bought Division One Club Bekwai Youth Football Academy and wants to focus on his new club.
