Ashgold midfielder Seth Osei plays down match-fixing ban

AshantiGold midfielder Seth Osei has denied being involved in any match-fixing activity during AshGold's game against Inter Allies last season.

The Miners defeated the Tema-based side 7-0 at the Len Clay Stadium in a game confirmed by the Ghana Football Association as a fixed fixture.

The Ghana Football Association issued a verdict on Monday, May 16, following a thorough investigation into the game, with both teams being demoted to Ghana's Division Two and some other players receiving bans.

Osei was handed a 30-month ban, but he insists it will not be effective as he was not involved in the scandal.

“I am innocent and I am not worried about this ban,” he told Pure FM.

“I have no idea about this because I was not involved in this scandal and for me, this ban will not stand.

“I never had communication with any player ahead of the game and that is my worry.

“This ban will not stand because I am innocent,” he added.
