Bechem United star Augustine Okrah apologises for MTN FA Cup final red card

Augustine Okrah has apologised for his red card incident, which contributed to Bechem United's MTN FA Cup final defeat to Hearts of Oak.

Okrah was sent off in the second half of a tense match at Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.

The experienced forward was given his marching orders after he head-butted the assistant referee for disagreeing with a decision.

His sending-off affected Bechem, with Hearts taking full advantage to secure a 2-1 win and lift the trophy.

“I tender an unconditional apology for the unethical behaviour that caused my early exit from the FA Cup final between Hearts of Oak and Bechem United t the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday,” Okrah said in a statement.

“I am extremely sorry and remorseful for the harm this have caused including hurting sentiments. I am ashamed of myself for having behaved in such a manner.”

“To [Bechem United owner] Mr Kingsley Owusu, the patrons, the management, My indefatigable teammates, the entire fans (Hunters), friends of Bechem United, the good people of Ahafo Region and the entire sporting fraternity please forgive me for this one last time. I m sorry for my behaviour and apologise from the core of my heart.”

Okrah scored 18 goals this season for Bechem United.
