BUNDES - Modeste on his sides comeback: a strong second half from us

Published on: 24 October 2021

On Sunday, French veteran Anthony Modeste scored two unanswered second-half goals as FC Koln rallied to draw 2-2 with Bayer Leverkusen at home in the Rhineland derby.

Patrik Schick and Karim Bellarabi gave Leverkusen a 2-0 lead after 17 minutes at the Rhein Energie Stadium, putting the host team on the back foot.

With 62 minutes gone, FC Koln equalized when 33-year-old Modeste scored an unassisted goal.

Eight minutes from time, Modeste equalized with a header to give his team a share of the points.

"Many had already written us off. We turned the game around," Modeste told DAZN.

"That is our strength this season, that was a strong second half from us."

FC Koln is in seventh place after rebounding back from a 5-0 thrashing at Hoffenheim last weekend.
