BUNDESLIGA - Decision made: Zakaria wants to leave Gladbach

Published on: 29 November 2021

Denis Zakaria will apparently leave Borussia Mönchengladbach after his contract expires at the end of the season after five years. As reported by 'Bild', referring to the player's environment, the 25-year-old Swiss is now ruling out an extension at Borussia and is looking for a new challenge.

Zakaria supposedly has a whole potpourri of attractive options at home and abroad. Juventus Turin, Inter Milan, AS Roma, FC Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund have already been linked to the 40-time Swiss national player.

The right-footed player is obviously particularly fond of the Premier League. So far, the two Manchester clubs and Arsenal FC have been traded there as potential buyers.

Around ten days ago, at a press conference, Gladbach's sports director Max Eberl had not given up hope that the clearer would stay: “I am a fighter and will therefore try everything to extend the contracts with Matthias Ginter and Denis Zakaria.” An offer from the foals is available reportedly on the table for a long time.

However, Eberl also has an eye on the financial side and does not want to rule out taking the opportunity to generate a transfer fee before the contract expires. “On the other hand, we would have to weigh up whether we would be much more successful in the second half of the season with this player,” said the manager last in 'Sport Bild'. Sports or financial added value, Eberl has to make a decision promptly - Zakaria has apparently already made his decision.
