Division One League: Accra Lions whitewash Okyeman Planners to extend lead in Zone III

Published on: 02 July 2021

High flying Accra Lions bounced back from their defeat at Nania to thump Okyeman Planners at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday afternoon.

Accra Lions were rampant in the first half as they netted three times to put the game beyond their opponents, before adding a fourth late in the second half.

Top scorer Rauf Salifu Salifu showed he was not just good at putting the ball into the net but also creating after setting up Kelvin Kyei for the opener on 20 minutes.

Six minutes later he nodded home an Oliver Amedor cross to double his side's lead before setting up Joseph Addo for the third following some brilliant footwork by the attacker.

It was a dominating performance by the hosts as they went into the break with a comfortable lead.

Okyeman Planners returned from the break hoping to at least get a goal back but their control of possession amounted for less as second half substitute Ibrahim Issa added the fourth goal with five minutes left.

The win sends Accra Lions four points ahead of their main rivals Tema Youth who are yet to play this weekend.
