Joseph Painstil stated he was disappointed following Genk's exit from the Belgian Cup on Wednesday despite scoring a brace.

The Ghanaian scored two goals but it was enough as Clubb Brugge tied 3-3 after extra time and won 5-3 in the penalty shootout.

The reigning champions thought they had won the round of 16 clash after Painstil goals gave them a two-goal lead after 70 minutes.

“Not the result we wanted last night, but we live to fight another day. As usual, #genkies your support has been huge. Even in defeat, you’ve been behind us," he posted on Twitter.

“Just unfortunate a brace wasn’t enough on the night. Already looking ahead to the weekend,” Paintsil posted on his Twitter page."

Painstil has scored five goals for Genk this season.
