Ghana vs South Africa: SAFA boss Jordaan unaware of FIFA verdict date
Danny Jordaan

The South African Football Association (SAFA) president Danny Jordaan said he is unaware when FIFA will deliver verdict on their complaint filed against Ghana.

South Africa say they were handed a raw deal in the 2022 World Cup qualifier against Ghana which they lost 1-0 with Andre Ayew's decisive goal coming via a controversial penalty.

SAFA alleged that match officials led by middle referee Ndiaye Maguette manipulated the match in favour of the Black Stars who due to the victory have progressed to the final round of the World Cup qualifying campaign.

SAFA is seeking a replay and also pressing for Maguette to be handed a lifetime ban from officiating which will include next year's World Cup.

A verdict was expected nearly two weeks ago on 23 November, ahead of the draw for the third and final round of the qualifiers on 10 December.

"I am just waiting on FIFA," Jordaan told Marawa.

"We are sitting and waiting, and all sorts of stories are emerging. We don't know when we will get a response.

"We are just waiting; we did not submit documents to anyone other than FIFA.

"An investigation is an investigation; they (FIFA) have to follow the leads. FIFA has the best capacity for investigation, and they have worldwide reach."

"We did ask FIFA to investigate everything; it's very important for both South Africa, Ghana & referees."
