I didn’t sue the journalist — Aduana Stars chief Takyi Arhin clarifies amid reports of match fixing

Manager of Aduana Stars Takyi Arhin has clarified that he didn’t take legal action against the journalist who accused the club of using their matches for betting but it was rather his outfit.

Prior to the Ogya Boys’ Ghana Premier League Week 28 clash against relegation-threatened Ebusua Dwarfs, reports went rife on the airwaves that the Dormaa-based side were going to play a match of convenience.

A Sunyani-based journalists alleged that Aduana are using their remaining games in the league for betting.

A day before the game, it was widely reported that Aduana Stars have sued the journalist who indicated that the match against Ebusua Dwarfs was fixed.

Coincidentally, Dwarfs won the match thanks to a late strike by Simon Martey.

The result saw the Crabs draw level with Elmina Sharks on 31 points as both clubs occupy 15th and 16th position respectively.

“It's never true Aduana Stars is using it matches for betting, treat such news a hoax but we believe is a plan thing by session of the media to defame Aduana Stars,” Arhin stated.

“Aduana Stars is a traditional club and we respect our Supporters and the traditions of the club so the club will never do such thing and aside that FIFA frown against betting in football.”

“We Aduana Stars have sued a Sunyani base Presenter accusing the club of using it matches for betting and are warning other presenters to stop making such accusations because we will not take it slightly with those media houses.”

Arhin however elucidated he only issued a warned the journalist to be guarded on the severity of the accusation he labeled against his club.

“Point of correction…I said I have called the host of the station to tell his panel members to be circumspect, else they can be sued.The powers to sue doesn't falls under my jurisdiction but the board,” he said.
